Milan Nič is Executive Director at CEPI. Previously he worked as the head of CEPI’s Central Europe and South-East Europe Programmes, focusing on Central Europe, the Western Balkans, Turkey, EU and NATO enlargements, and security challenges in Wider Europe. Milan was also the Deputy Chief of Cabinet and Senior Advisor to the State Secretary at the Slovak Foreign Ministry (2010-2012), advisor for the High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina (2007-2009), and analyst for the European Stability Initiatives think-tank (2009 - 2010). In 2009 - 2010, he was also member of an external advisory council to the Slovak foreign minister. He started his professional carrier as journalist at the Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (1995-2002), and later was programme director at the Bratislava-based Pontis Foundation (2002-2006), where he oversaw development and human rights projects in variety of difficult countries including Belarus, Cuba and Iraq. Milan studied International Relations and Political Economy at the SAIS Johns Hopkins University Bologna Center, Modern History at the Central European University in Budapest, and Political Science at the Charles University in Prague. A recipient of the 2004 Karol Rybárik Award for the best young professional in Slovak foreign policy, he recently co-authored a book of essays on the EU and Slovak foreign policy (Bruselenie valašiek, Kalligram, Bratislava 2010).
