Energy Security Academy 2015

For consecutive years, PSSI held intensive educational courses entitled, "Global and Regional Challenges to Czech Energy Security" (2013) and “Future of Energy Security” (2014) at the American Centre in Prague. These intensive, one-week courses are part of a joint PSSI - Faculty of Social Sciences, Masaryk University in Brno cooperation program on energy security. In February 2015, lectures focused on the “Central Europe's Energy Crisis Preparedness,” and among the topics were gas, oil and nuclear sectors in Central and Eastern Europe, global market and trading of these commodities, gas shortage and electricity blackout preparedness. The intensive course was highly selective and only twenty students were chosen from a broad applicant pool based on their demonstrated previous experience and interest in the field. The one-week intensive course is the inaugural project of the broader Energy Security Program established at PSSI in the fall of 2012, which includes a three-year joint educational initiative with Masaryk University in this critical field.
