Join PSSI's Senior Fellow Jiří Schneider on January 12 at the Knihovna Václava Havla, where he chaired a talk by Pulitzer Prize winning author Anne Applebaum.
Mr. Applebaum is the Director of Global Transitions Program at the Legatum Institute in London, a columnist for the Washington Post and Slate. The American historian, author and Pulitzer Prize winner presented the Czech editions of two of her most important works: the book Between East and West is a record of a journey around the borderlands of the West, from Kaliningrad to Odessa, as well as an important attempt to understand the region’s history and cultural diversity. The Iron Curtain: The Crushing of Central Europe, 1944–1956 is an exceptional study of the process by which totalitarian regimes are established.
The event was organized by Vaclav Havel Library, in cooperation with the Polish Institute in Prague and the Pant civic association.
