The main objective of the Antall József Knowledge Centre’s (AJKC) annual Foreign and Security Policy Conference is to bring together national and international academic experts, policy-makers, and opinion-shapers to address a relevant issue of international relations by discussing its most important events and phenomena.

The 2016 instalment of the conference series focuses on the international political implications of the 2010 Arab Uprisings. On this occasion, the conference will investigate the societal, economic, and security aspects of the Arab Spring in order to provide an understanding of the current multilateral relationship between Europe and the Middle East.

Over the course of the conference comprising two panels, renowned experts will present their recent research results and offer their insights on the Arab Uprisings’ effects on the European Union and the contemporary foreign and security policy of the Middle Eastern region and Turkey.
The first panel will provide an overview of the events, processes, and institutions that have shaped the internal and external security complex of the Middle Eastern region, while the second panel will focus on international migration, with special regard to human smuggling, transnational organised crime, and the European Migration Policy.
