Space assets are essential to the effective functioning of the U.S. military. The lecture will examine the link between space and national security, as well as the implications of the increasingly robust counterspace capabilities of certain space-faring nations. It will likewise review other issues relevant to the U.S. strategy, policy and management of the national security uses of space.
Dr. Hays works for Falcon Research supporting the Principle Department of Defense Space Advisor. He helps lead development and implementation of space policy and strategy initiatives. Dr. Hays holds a Ph.D. from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at the Tufts University and was an honor graduate of the USAF Academy. He currently teaches at George Washington University, served internships at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and National Space Council. He previously taught at the USAF Academy, School of Advanced Airpower Studies, and National Defense University.
